Boswella
Boswella is composed of boswellic acids, an extract of the resin of the Boswellia serrata tree which grows in India. Boswellic acids have anti-inflammatory and anti-arthritic action in acute and chronic models of inflammation. They do not produce an analgesic effect, but appear to suppress the inflammation, which is the underlying cause of the pain. For many people, Boswella reduces joint swelling and morning stiffness, increases mobility, and reduces arthritic pain. Leukotrienes cause
inflammation by promoting free radical damage, calcium dislocation,
autoimmune responses, cell adhesion and the migration of inflammation-producing
cells to the inflamed body area. Boswella inhibits inflammation by blocking
the synthesis of leukotrienes.
