Chloroplex (vegetable extract complex)
Chloroplex contains a variety of carotenoids and other plant extracts that have also been shown to reduce the risk of cancer, macular degeneration and heart disease. It also contains chlorophyll, which has been shown to be a potent anticancer agent. In a study reported in the journal Mutation Research comparing the anticancer effect of chlorophyll to beta-carotene, and vitamins A, C and E, chlorophyll was proven to be a more effective antimutagen than any of them. Also important is chlorophylls ability to neutralize aflatoxins, which are toxins produced by the Aspergillus flavus mold that grows on corn and peanuts. While vitamin A and beta-carotene can neutralize aflatoxins to some degree, chlorophyll is much more effective. Chlorophyll also functions as an internal deodorant. As well as containing beta-carotene which has well-established anticancer effects, Chloroplex contains other carotenoids which show the ability to reduce cancer risk through effects which are distinct from beta-carotene. For example, studies show that the carotenoid, lycopene, reduces the risk of pancreatic cancer, the fifth leading cause of cancer fatalities, even though beta-carotene does not. Chloroplex contains the carotenoids beta-carotene, lycopene, and lutein, and freeze-dried cabbage which contains anticancer sulfora-phanes. Chloroplex provides in one capsule as much sulforaphane as is found in a typical (4 oz) serving of fresh broccoli. Because copper is normally well supplied in the diet and may generate free radicals if over-supplied, 10 mg of zinc oxide has been added to Chloroplex to inhibit the absorption of copper from the pure copper chlorophyllins. 1 capsule
