#3173 SARSAPARILLA (Smilax medica) Sarsaparilla is considered to be
an excellent blood purifier and used in the treatment of skin disorders,
such as psoriasis and eczema. For treatment of skin disorders, use in
combination with other herbs. Tierras combination includes equal
parts of Sarsaparilla, Sassafras, Burdock Root, Yellowdock Root, Dandelion
Root, and Red Clover. Results are usually seen in 2-4 weeks. For lasting
effects, one must also make dietary changes. Sarsaparilla is used in
the treatment of liver disorders such as jaundice, hepatitis, and gout.
It helps to alleviate flatulence and to increase urine flow. When taken
as a hot infusion, Sarsaparilla increases perspiration. Other uses include:
gout, rheumatism, colds, catarrh, hormonal imbalance, impotency, heartburn,
scrofula, ringworm, tetters, and as a flavoring for soft drinks.
Use 6-12 drops
in juice, water, under the tongue, or as desired. May be taken 3 times
daily. Shake well. Store in cool, dark place. Keep out of reach of children.
