As an essential cofactor of glutathione peroxidase, selenium is an important antioxidant and cancer fighter. Its other benefits include being involved with iodine metabolism, pancreatic function, DNA repair, immunity and the detoxification of heavy metals. Studies have shown that selenium can help prevent some cancers and cataracts.

Sodium selenite liquid provides a convenient form in which to take additional selenium apart from meals.

Dosage and use

• 1-5 drops daily are suggested, depending on total selenium daily intake.
  
• Since vitamin C may reduce the absorption of selenite, it should be taken an hour before or 20 minutes after taking selenium supplements.

Caution:
Selenium is one of a few nutrients for which the most beneficial and toxic doses are not far apart. More than 800 mcg of selenium daily can build up to toxic levels.
