McCaleb et al. (2000) report that red clover (Trifolium pratense) has a long history of usage as a blood-cleansing herb that thins the blood, aids digestion, and stimulates detoxification, through the liver and gall bladder. Red Clover has merit when used as a single herb, or if complexed with other purifying herbs. The user should be aware, however, that Red Clover (Trifolium pratense)possesses estrogenic activity and since it thins the blood, it may be inappropriate for some supplemental regimes.

From Herbal Descriptions by Truman Berst:
#3167 RED CLOVER (Trifolium pratense) Used in the treatment of coughs, bronchitis, and weak lungs. It may be used in cough syrups, mixed with water and honey. High in minerals, Red Clover is strengthening to the body and for the debilitated individual. It is considered a mild alterative and is used for scrofulous, skin diseases and cancerous growths. Taken as a warm infusion, Red Clover is soothing to the nerves. As a mild alterative and mild sedative, it is a useful herb for children and the elderly. The American Indians used Red Clover in a wash for sore eyes and in salves for burns.

Use 6-12 drops in juice, water, under the tongue or as desired. May be taken 3 times daily. Shake well. Store in cool dark place. Keep out of reach of children.
